There was a digital Cinema demo at Calicut Davison, by Real Image of Madras. They have brought up the qube brand. The server runs XP embedded and apparantly they have a custom version of a projector from delta. Its made to survive the temperature and humidity of Indian conditions, but require AC. The cost should range from 7.5 to 10 lakhs and that does not include the server, which is FOC and property of Real Image. The picture quality was excellent and the maintanence is mainly replacement lamps which cost about 20k and lasts for only 1500 hours. The system is a closed one where the service technician will have to come and load the movie from a pocket harddisk. A 3hr movie might take around 80GB Uncompressed.
Looks like its a wait and see. With funding from Intel, Real Image might have the resources.
I’m stuck, I made a mistake of not disconnecting before starting the session of the free period from 2am. Now the free period bw is calculated as charged and I have used up almost my complete free limit.
On another note they seem to have a problem in which the wan users appear on the LAN. My office computer got virus infected.
There’s lots of learning to do.
Spent another few days with acronis and other toold creating images, backing up and cleaning up. Still more to do for an ideal machine.
There’s a virus in the office machine. Looks like there’s a problem with BSNL’s network here. I can see machines on the LAN which are on the WAN.

Being a B Class Cinema theatre owner, I need to set priority on which movie is screened first. I have had problems when a distributor says their movie is first.
I intend to track only commercial Malayalam movies, sometimes Tamil and English.
I have been building a new machine, not with hardware but with software, taking images in between. Also the old utils cd’s been revived with updates. Lots of downloads nd not much progress with the new product. The retreat and other travels gave even little time for real work.
